It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Alan Chan 陳漢龍 on Nov 29, 2023 at the age of 47. Dear husband of Barbara and loving father of Hendrik. Survived by his father and mother, Tze Fook and Sai Bee, father-in- law, Fred and mother-in-law, Iris. He will be greatly missed by his aunt, his brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Irene, niece and nephew, cousin, Kevin, brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Joy, and extended family.
Alan spent his first 18 years in Hong Kong. As a kid, he was a competitive swimmer, tennis player, violinist and video gamer. He moved to Canada and studied engineering at the University of Ottawa. Later, he joined the Government as a procurement officer.
He loved to travel. He was resourceful and found savvy ways to go to many destinations. He was an advert gardener and a great cook.
His positive energy and ability to liven up conversations brought him many friends and brothers and sisters in Christ. He was committed to serving the church. When things got hard, he reminded us to refocus and seek God’s guidance through prayer. He loved life and he loved his family. He will be missed.
A private funeral was held at Beechwood cemetery in Ottawa. A Celebration of Life will be held on Dec 9, 2023 at 2:30pm. Ottawa Chinese Alliance church, 22 Eccles Street, Ottawa.
