Grant Bachmeier passed away peacefully in his home November 12th 2023 at age 77 surrounded by family and friends. Exactly where he wished to be.

He was predeceased by his parents Albert Joseph Bachmeier and beloved mother Jean Margaret (Forester).

He is survived and much loved by his cousins Janet Forester Thompson, and Patrcia Knox (Barry).

Family thanks for the very special care provided by the loyal and loving neighbors Lorraine, Ray, Blake (Charlotte), Drew and Michael.   Cassie Lee, and the PSW’s team for providing friendship with his care.

Grant was born in Saskatchewan September 14,1946 and after moving to Ottawa and took great pride in working for the NCC, and later the City of Gloucester (Ottawa) until his retirement.

He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, as one of the founding members of Backroads Touring Group who rode together and rode for many charities such as the Ride for Dad. As well as regularly contributing to charities himself.

He was also known for his trips to “Visit the folks” as he liked to call it when visiting family and friends.

As per Grants wishes cremation has taken place, and there will be no funeral service.  Interment will take place at a later date and friends will be invited to pay their respects at that time.

Grant was a good customer of mine for many years at Harley-Davidson of Ottawa. A big man he might have scared a few people meeting him in his riding gear but he was truly a big teddy bear who was quiet in ways & not in others. He did ride for charities & an awful lot for fun.
I contacted him in hospital last Winter after I heard he was there from a caring friend. Over the course of many months we spoke while he was there & after moving into a couple of different residences. I have my own health issues & our chats did us both good. He could be gruff about things but all in all Grant was a nice man. Ride free Sir! 😎

You can ride all you want now. Going to miss your grumpiness but also the friendship, travels and experiences that we've had for more than 45 years
