Chris went on ahead on October 11, 2023, age 47. He leaves behind his partner Christina, her daughter Naomi, parents Judy and Dave, brother Mike, nephews Alex and Matt, many aunts, uncles and cousins, numerous friends, former students and colleagues and his big lifesaving service dog Callie, Black Lab extraordinaire. We are shocked and tremendously saddened by his abrupt departure due to cardiac illness.
Chris was a teacher, specializing in drama and history. Although his career was interrupted by illness, his enduring contacts with former students and colleagues attest to his success in imparting knowledge and retaining relationships. One had but to review his many postings on Facebook and other social media to gain an appreciation of his affinity for language and his ability to convey anecdotes and information with intelligence, accuracy, insight and humour.
Chris came from a family with a military background. This was reflected in his keen interest in military history, of which he had an extensive knowledge, and which he shared generously in his writings and references. This interest made his dad very proud and reluctant ever to challenge him on points of historical fact.
And so, he’s off on his next adventure. He lives on in the memories of us who loved him.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Sunday, October 22nd at Beechwood Cemetery (280 Beechwood Ave. Ottawa, ON) at 1pm followed by a celebration of life.

He was my history and drama teacher and was absolutely amazing with all the students, he always felt like a friend and connected with people so well. Chris saved my life. He recognized that I was a fellow outsider, and invited me to hang out with him one evening at Bakers Dozen. This is where I would go on to meet many fabulously colorful people, some of whom I am still close friends with today.
Chris was like that with everyone, he would find strays and bring them together on his island of misfit toys. He wanted the “freaks” to stick together and be proud of ourselves for being different.
We had many adventures together. Random late night trips to Montreal for a beer. Literally one beer then drive home, or to Gananoque to see the giant muskie, or Ogdensburg to have a coffee. If I remember correctly this was the day Frank Sinatra died and we played My Way on the jukebox.
I’m sorry that I never kept in contact, would love to know more about his life over the past decade since we last spoke. And I’m so sorry that I’ll never get the chance to have him tell me in his words.
Rest east Swifty, I will never forget our awesome adventures. Thank you for bringing me onto your island. xo

Christopher is one of the strongest people I know. Although he dealt with chronic illness for most of his life, he made a huge impact on the lives of many. He achieved career success, artistic expression and love.
I will miss our banter. He would ask for advice. I'd give it. He'd do the exact opposite.
He was loyal, kind and sarcastic but never at anyone's expense. He was my bestie.

Chris was a wonderful teacher and also the first person to introduce me to the movie 'Office Space', now definitively one of my favourite movies of all time. I'm sad to hear of his passing ut glad that he had the chance to impact so many young lives during his time as an educator.
I am so saddened to hear of Chris’ sudden passing. We went to school together in elementary and high school and while we have never reconnected as adults, my heart goes it to his family and friends who will miss him in their daily lives. My condolences to all. Requiesce in pace, Chris.
