It is with great sadness that we announce the death of a great man: Mr. Claude Roy.

Claude passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 1, 2023, at the age of 70. He was the loving husband of Suzanne Roy and the wonderful son of Yvette Côté and the late Denis Roy. In addition to his dear Suzanne, he is survived by his two beloved sons: Benoît (Kara Reynolds) and Christian (Nadine Gauthier) and his precious grandchildren whom he loved so much: Tristan, Coralie and Félix. He also leaves his sister Suzanne Roy (William Bushey), his mother-in-law (Carmen Richer), his brother-in-law Denis Richer (Sylvie Laframboise), his sister-in-law Louise Richer (Yves Beauseigle) as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 8, 2023 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Oncology Department of the Ottawa Hospital and to Dr. André and Lorraine Gauthier for their much appreciated care and support.

Express your sympathy by making a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.

I was most saddened to hear of Claude’s premature passing, and would like to offer my sincere condolences to his family. Claude and his team were significant contributors to the success and reputation of the Road Safety Directorate. He was a consummate professional upon whose advice we could always count, and whose knowledge, aura of calm, and wit were invaluable contributions to the Directorate workplace and its products. Claude and his team were highly respected not only internally, but crucially, by industry as well. I will remember Claude as a highly trusted team member, and a friend.

Chère Mme Suzanne,

Quelle triste nouvelle!

Rest In Peace Claude. I enjoyed our chats over the last year. Herbie was a great friend and had great respect for you while at Transport.

Suzanne, I'm soo sorry for the late response. I just heard of this news yesterday. I started working with Claude at TC in 2001 until he retired. I always enjoyed talking to and working with Claude. He always listened and had an open door at 330 Sparks. Sincerely, Wayne Duff
