After a brief stay at the Ottawa Hospital, Koomok Conrad (nee Kim) passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday September 9, 2023. She leaves behind her loving husband, Robert (Bob) George Conrad, her loving family, her church community and her friends.
Koomok was a gentle, kind, woman of faith who loved and touched many lives. She was known as “Aunt Komo” to many who knew her. She loved her church and her community, and spent many hours volunteering after a lengthy career as a Registered Nurse and water aerobics instructor.
Koomok was originally from Korea and emigrated to Canada in the 60’s where she would eventually meet and fall in love with her husband, Bob. The two married in Toronto in 1975 and then moved to Montreal to continue studying and working for the next few years. Finally, in 1981, they made their way to Ottawa, a place where they’ve called home ever since.
Koomok is missed by all who knew her. She will be remembered fondly and is at peace with her Lord.
A Celebration of Koomok’s Life will be held at the Ottawa East Seventh-day Adventist Church, 194 Prince Albert St., Ottawa, on Sunday, September 24 at 10:30 a.m. Family and friends are invited to visit from 10 a.m. A reception will follow at the church.

Dear Uncle Bob, it will never be the same without Auntie Koomok—you go together like peanut butter and jelly. You both have made a lasting impression on my life from childhood and I will cherish all the sweet memories. God will meet you in your sorrow and fill your loss with His comforting presence. Condolences from my heart to yours, Amara (or as Auntie Koomok would say, Arama)
David & Debra Sims
Bob, sincerest condolences from our family on your loss of Koomok. She was a very kind and caring Christian who was loved by many and also was an ‘Aunt Komo’ to our two children. In fact, she always asked how are kids were doing after they had grown up and left Ottawa. We are comforted in knowing that she is now resting, waiting for the soon return of Jesus. Jesus said, “Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life” (Rev 2:10). It won’t be long until that the day when she as well as all His followers will receive their crowns from the King of kings. Koomok will be missed dearly. Blessings, David and Debra Sims, Daniel and Amara (Arama, the name Koomok always used), Ottawa

Koomok Nuna, to me, she is the cousion. The 1960s were a difficult time in Korea because it was very poor.
Her life was made more difficult because her parents died at an early age. Nevertheless, to commemorate my entering elementary school, he bought me a pretty and luxurious bag with flowers and birds on it as a gift.
More than a gift, I cannot forget that feeling.
I pray for eternal life in the kingdom of God.

Bob, my mom couldn’t make to the funeral but her deepest sympathies for the sudden loss of Koomok. She was a cherished niece and because mom did not have any siblings of her own being an only child, she loved Koomok as her younger sister and her life was full knowing Koomok was by her side. She wants to thank you for the wonderful life you provided her as her life partner. We will miss her. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Love Aunt Koom Soon and Sandra Gram.
