In the wee hours of Sunday, September 3, 2023, the Angels came to return home, one of God’s most precious creations – a loving wife, cherished mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Born on Dominion (now Canada Day) 1938, Bev was the only child of the Late Robert P. “Roy” Dallas of Ottawa (born in Edinburgh, Scotland), and the late Marjorie Dorothy Dallas (nee Dennis) of Ottawa.
At the centre of Bev’s universe were her adored husband of nearly 70 years, Hubert “Hubie” (her “Captain Romance”); daughter Debbie (Jim) – both of Stouffville, ON; son Michael (Terri) of Ottawa; her beloved grandchildren, Ryan (East Lansing, MI), Amy (Vaughan, ON), Alex (Halifax, NS), Stefanie and sister Joanna (both in South-Western ON).
Except for a few short-term moves to Montreal, Noranda and Valleyfield, QC in the early years of marriage, Mom’s home was always Ottawa, where she raised her family, and where she collected and curated a multitude of lifelong friendships. She loved reading, Little Theatre, movies, skiing, golf, hand crafts, flowers (especially orchids), jazz (anything Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington, Ol’ Blue Eyes & more). Mostly though, Bev loved to laugh – often and quite loudly.
Special thanks to ALL the amazing staff and management at Chartwell Lord Lansdowne, the palliative care unit at St. Vincent’s Hospital, the wonderful, caring staff at Beechwood Cemetery, Funeral and Cremation Services, and especially, to the amazing Dr. Gloria Manzig, for her many years of caring, competent family healthcare services.
A small family Remembrance gathering has already taken place at Beechwood. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
