Loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Heather passed away peacefully at home in Ottawa on July 1, 2023, after a short battle with cancer. She was surrounded by loved ones. Born in Halifax on Nov. 22, 1961, Heather worked as a medical transcriptionist before retiring in 2018. She loved to play ukulele, sing, bike, and play tennis or pickle ball. Her favourite pastime was walking her dog Sophie (the girl she never had) in Stanley Park. Heather loved to cook and would occasionally meet her neighbours “at the fence” when she made extra. She also enjoyed long walks, philosophical conversations, and playing Thursday pool with “sister from another mister” Kathleen. Heather is predeceased by parents Austin and Shirley (Snow) and first husband Neil (Hesketh). She is survived by husband Chris, sons Ryan and Dylan (Hesketh), grandchildren Isabella, Maddison, and Samantha (Hesketh), brothers Brian and Gary, sisters Joanne (Parsons), Terri Lee (Arsenault), Michelle (Bland), and Danielle, and pets Sophie and Big Bear. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of a conventional service, Heather requested close friends and loved ones join and walk through Stanley Park together in her memory (date to be determined). Donations in memory may be made to the Humane Society, Make a Wish Foundation, local food bank, or charity of choice.
