Peace be upon Jerry. He was a wonderful man and a great army officer: humorous, generous, charming and competent. A wonderful role model for his peers and subordinates. I am truly saddened by his passing.

My sincerest condolecenses to the Thompson family. I had the pleasure to serve under Colonel Thompson in Baden, Germany. He was a good fair man, a professional soldier, always looking out for his troops. May he rest in peace. Pro Patria.

I had the privilege of working under Gerry twice in my career, during the 76 Olympics as my Company Commander and in Germany as my CO. In simple terms, he made soldiering fun. Those he commanded would have followed him anywhere.
Thinking of you Jean, Heather and Laurie as a very loving and tight knitted family.
Great husband, wonderful father and also grand father. We will remember him as a great man.
