My thoughts and sympathies are with you. I am so sad to hear this news. Peter was a kind, intelligent and witty colleague. He had a way of seeing how to make things work better. We will really miss him at OSFI.

Words cannot express the utter shock and sadness no doubt being felt by all of us who had the privilege to call Peter a friend. He was an old soul with a quick wit who was always willing to lend an ear and share stories over lunch. Never would I have guessed during one of our last conversations about coming to Ottawa and having High Tea at Chateau Laurier with him joining us would now have to happen without him. He will be greatly missed. My deepest sympathies go out to his family and all who knew and loved him.

I was struck by sadness and surprise when I heard of the passing of Peter Gibson. He was too young to leave us at such an early age! I knew Peter when he was in Credit Risk Division in OSFI, just a great individual with always a smile on his face and ready to help. My deepest and sincere condolences go out to his family and friends, he will be missed!

Peter worked closely with me when he first joined OSFI. He was smart and willing to take on challenges at work. And there were many of these hills to climb.
Several times when we hit a wall, he'd say, "Let me think this through ... give me a couple of days ... ". Inevitably, after a couple of days, he'd come up with a solution. Many's the hill we crested and laughed on the way down.
My deepest sympathy and condolences to Peter's family and loved ones. He certainly has gone too soon and my wish is that he now rest in peace.

You sent me a recurring meeting invite for us to chat once a week on Saturday 1-2pm since early this year and I had joked that it was my 1 on 1 with you… we just talked about everything and anything every time… last time we chatted that was a few weeks ago, you told me you would be slowly coming back to work part time and I was happy to learn that we would work in the same sector… I called you on Nov. 6 telling you I would be traveling to Cuba with Vlad and his whole family for vacation, you didn’t pick up so I left a voice mail…. I was hoping to share my travel stories with you as I always did after a trip… I am in shock now… Peter, I miss you dearly and I will love you forever.

Peter was a uniquely bright light in my working life. His insight into the daily work challenges, particularly those of an interpersonal nature, was rare. This insight, combined with his ability to communicate (what a vocabulary!, what a wicked wit!!) and an unassuming style, made him a powerful yet understated presence. He was such a gem...gone way too soon. My most sincere condolences. Bruce

My sincere condolences to Peter's family. I had the privilege of working closely with Peter for a number of years. He was brilliant, witty, always offered a different perspective, and kept me on my toes. I will never forget Peter's humour, never-ending vocabulary, and our conversations on the latest book he was reading. Peter has left far too soon, and we will all miss him around the OSFI halls so much. My deepest sympathies to his family during this difficult time. Thinking of you all.

Peter,
I remember all the time we spent together growing up fondly - the Utah ski trips, the car chats, the economic and political discussions - they were all great.
My sincere condolences to the family - Del, Pat, Emily, Matt, Peggy, and Ian. I wish I could give all of you a hug right now.
Here's to hoping you are enjoying an iced flat white wherever you are resting peacefully.
Pat - it's Maryan here who used to live across the street from you on Fraser. Joan Anne sent me Peter's obituary and I was struck with sadness. I remember Peter as being a quiet, steady lad always ready to help (me with my car stuck in the snow). His smile was a gentle one. My heart goes out to you as you grieve your son. Gentle hugs - Maryan
