It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the peaceful passing of Catharine H. Prinsep of Burritt’s Rapids, Ontario on April 7th, 2022 with family by her side.

She was predeceased by her loving husband John G. Prinsep of Manotick, Ontario.

The proud daughter of Horace O. Merriman, MBE and Helena E. Merriman (Ramsay) and stepdaughter to Edith Hilda Merriman (Cooke). Catharine grew up in Lindenlea and spoke fondly of her childhood cottage in Meech Lake. She was a wonderful mother to Vivien (Michael Libby) and Chris (Tanya) and she especially relished her role as Nana to Fletcher (Reylea) and Braden.

She enjoyed life, family and friends and Catharine was always there to brighten the lives of her many nieces, nephews, and their families. She will be sorely missed by all of them. The delightful memories made at her home in Burritt’s Rapids will be treasured by many.

She was predeceased by her brothers Rev. Owen Merriman (Mary) and Dr. John Merriman (Hope) whom she cherished deeply.

Her indomitable spirit and unwavering faith encouraged others to pursue life with purpose and hope and her prayers were always appreciated.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff of Bridlewood Trails for their care and compassion.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 16th at 2pm at Kemptville Pentecostal Church, 1964 County Rd 43, Kemptville.

In honor of Catharine’s legacy of generosity, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations to World Vision Canada or The Humane Society would be appreciated.

Beautiful lady of God. I agree with the comments above and will add that I got to know her and loved through Chris and Tanya. May God be with all her family.

Cathy will be missed by many and remembered for her generosity in opening up her home to friends and family, and her sense of welcome and willingness to connect with others. I truly enjoyed my conversations and interactions with her over the years and will miss her smile and forthrightness. Praying blessings on the family, sending our love and thinking fondly of Cathy at home with her Saviour. Warmly, Marie and Justin

Auntie Cath was special to me, and the coolest aunt ever! I have so many fond memories of time spent at Manotick, Dunrobin and Burrits Rapids. She was also a special Auntie to our kids and grandkids. Auntie to three generations! You will be missed!

Vivien, Chris and family, I'm saddened to hear of the passing of your dear Mom and GrandMother. I met her a few times when she welcomed me into her home, happy, kind and full of zest, She was indeed a good role model on how to enjoy life to the fullest. Sending you strength and love. May your happy memories you shared will forever keep your Mom and Grandmother very close to your heart. With Love.

Cathy was an awesome aunt. As a kid we always enjoyed the visits out east to see her, Vivien and Chris in Manotick and the cottage at Constance Bay. She even spent precious $s to get the Jag up and running so I could take it for a spin during one visit!
When we moved East, the kids and us have fond memories of the times with her at Burritts Rapids fishing, canoeing and just visiting. She was always so grateful for whenever we did anything for her, regardless of how small or large. We will miss you Cathy

Cathy was a very special person to our family. I remember fondly our road trips from Saskatoon to visit when we were young and the fun times we had both in Manotick and the cottage at Constance Bay.

When we moved to Ottawa, our whole family were regular visitors to Burritts Rapids enjoying the property, fishing and her hospitality. She was always so appreciative of everything we did for her, not matter how small.
We're going to miss you Cathy
