Jessie, Theresa, David, and families,
Molly and I were sorry to hear of Bert's passing.
We always enjoyed spending time during many social events over many years with Bert and Jessie and our mutual friends Jerry and Shirley Zurakowski.
Most appreciated was Bert's sense of humour, grace, and his willingness to share his wisdom and knowledge. His photographic expertise was exceptional and our family were the benefactors of his expertise when he and Jerry Z took a group photo of Molly's family. The time and effort that Bert and Jerry put into that photo shoot and ensuring the best possible outcome was truly admirable. The other aspect of Bert's knowledge and skills that I truly admired and we shared a common interest in was carpentry and home renovation; he set the gold standard for others to aspire to. I am grateful that Bert was always available to answer questions I had whether it was home renovation or any other topic.
We are so grateful to have crossed paths with Bert in our journey in life.
We will miss Bert. May he rest in peace.

Bert and I first contacted each other over twenty years ago when we were both doing family research. Bert and Jessica visited my wife and I in England several years ago and two years ago I spent ten weeks in Canada, a week of the time staying with Bert and Jessica.
I will always be grateful for all the help Bert gave me searching for my family, especially my Canadian family.
My wife Brenda and I send our deepest sympathy to Jessica, their family and also to Rosemary, who also visited us with Bert and Jessica.
I will pass the sad news on to all my cousins who knew Bert and met him at a large family BBQ while I was in Canada.

Bert and I shared Great Great Grandparents. It was nice to meet him a couple of times several years ago.

Peter Hayward was kind enough to share the sad news of Bert's passing with us. Through Ancestry, and with the help of Peter, We had the pleasure of meeting Bert and Jesse at their home in Ottawa 5+ years ago, then again at a family bbq 2 years ago where my husband got to meet relatives he never knew. Unfortunately Covid ruined our plans of meeting up again. Wayne and I would like to offer our sincere condolences to Jesse and the family - he was a "gentle" man and will not be forgotten. Rest in peace Bert!

Jessica and Dave and Theresa
I have known Bert and Jessica since 1985 when we were posted to Baden. Bert and Jessica worked at Canex for a few years there. I curled with Jessica a few times there too. We were posted to Ottawa and Bert and Jessica moved back as well. I had the pleasure of curling with Jessica again and going to a few bonspiels. We shared many good curling memories and people who came in and out of our lives.
Bert was a kind quiet sole and loved baking cookies. My condolences to the family.

Rest in peace dear Bert. Joan and I have known you for 60 + years and are very sad you have passed on. You and Jessy have been treasured friends for so many years. We had many great adventures together sailing, traveling, camping and skiing . You where always willing to help out and filled our home with lovingly crafted woodworking projects that remind us of you every day. We are so grateful your family allowed us to say goodbye in person on the day you died. You will be greatly missed by our whole family and remembered often by the telling of the stories we made together. Our condolences to Jesse, David and Theresa and family. Goodbye dear friend.
