It is with profound sadness that the family of Madeline Shu-Hsien Shih announce her peaceful passing on November 20, 2021 at the age of 89 years.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 62 years, Chang Sheng (Michael),her brothers-in-law, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She will also be dearly missed by her friends in Ottawa and around the world.
Madeline immigrated to Canada in 1958 from Taiwan to complete her master’s degree in Botany at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg. Eventually, she and Michael settled in Ottawa in 1966 where she made many friends and had a long career with Agriculture Canada. Madeline enjoyed spending time gardening, reading, entertaining and, most of all, sharing laughter with her family and friends. She will be remembered for her kindness, charm and generosity.
Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Ave. Ottawa, ON) on Friday, November 26th, 2021 from 1 pm to 3 pm, followed by a graveside service at 3 pm (Beechwood Cemetery, Section 55, 280 Beechwood Ave. Ottawa, ON).

Dearest Madeline,
The world is a darker place without you, but your beautiful spirit, kind and thoughtful actions, gracious sharing, and generous care will live on in our hearts and memories. Your friendship has touched our lives and changed them for the better. May you now rest peacefully, knowing that we will cherish the time we spent together always.

My deepest condolences to Michael and the family on the passing of Madeleine. She was such a lovely lady.
