No Stone Left Alone: Beechwood’s act of remembrance aimed at our nation’s youth
In ones and twos, with envelopes of poppies in hand, the schoolchildren from l’École élémentaire catholique Saint-François-d’Assise in Hintonburg fan out across the grounds of the National Military Cemetery at Beechwood Cemetery. The Grade 5 and 6 students, effusive and chatty on any other day, are silent now as they approach the graves of Canada’s military dead. They have a sombre duty to perform, and are taking their responsibility very seriously.
