Maria Olivia Coelho de Medeiros

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother, Maria Olivia Coelho De Medeiros. She passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 9th, 2025, shortly after 6 p.m., at the Montfort Hospital in Ottawa, surrounded by her family.

In recent years, Maria faced her illness with remarkable strength, guided always by her unwavering faith in God. When she was no longer able to attend Mass, she continued to pray the Rosary several times a day. Our Lady of Fatima held a special place in her heart, and Maria prayed a Rosary to her every single day.

Maria is predeceased by her parents, José Botelho and Inês Oliveira, and by her brothers and sisters: Pedro Coelho, Maria Conçeição Soares, José Botelho, Maria da Teresa Botelho, João Coelho, Intelvina Arruda, and António Botelho.

She is survived by her loving husband, João Medeiros; her sister, Maria da Glória Oliveira Coelho; her children, John Medeiros (Kelly Medeiros), Fátima Guy (Paul Couture), and Maria Medeiros (Allan Taylor); her grandchildren, Tyler Alliman, Nicholas Medeiros, Miguel Medeiros, and Sophia York; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 14th, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and again from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Avneue, Ottawa). The Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, December 15th, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Senhor Santo Cristo Portuguese Catholic Church, located at 1100 Kenaston Street, Ottawa. Following the Mass, Maria’s interment will be held in the Our Lady of Fatima section at Beechwood Cemetery.

É com profunda tristeza que anunciamos o falecimento da nossa mãe, Maria Olivia Coelho De Medeiros. Ela partiu serenamente na terça-feira, dia 9 de dezembro de 2025, pouco depois das 18h, no Hospital Montfort, rodeada pela sua família.

Nos últimos anos, a Maria enfrentou a sua doença com uma força admirável, sempre guiada pela sua inabalável fé em Deus. Quando já não conseguia ir à Missa, continuou a rezar o Terço várias vezes por dia. Nossa Senhora de Fátima ocupava um lugar muito especial no seu coração, e a Maria rezava um Terço para Ela todos os dias.

A Maria antecede na morte os seus pais, José Botelho e Inês Oliveira, e os seus irmãos: Pedro Coelho, Maria Conçeição Soares, José Botelho, Maria da Teresa Botelho, João Coelho, Intelvina Arruda e António Botelho.

Deixa enlutados o seu amado marido, João Medeiros; a sua irmã, Maria da Glória Oliveira Coelho; os seus filhos, John Medeiros (Kelly Medeiros), Fátima Guy (Paul Couture) e Maria Medeiros (Allan Taylor); os seus netos, Tyler Alliman, Nicholas Medeiros, Miguel Medeiros e Sophia York; além de muitos sobrinhos e sobrinhas.

A visita terá lugar no domingo, dia 14 de dezembro de 2025, das 14h às 16h e novamente das 17h às 20h, no Cemitério Beechwood. A Missa de Funeral será celebrada na segunda-feira, dia 15 de dezembro de 2025, às 11h, na Igreja Católica Portuguesa Senhor Santo Cristo, situada no 1100 da rua Kenaston, em Ottawa. Após a Missa, a interment da Maria será realizada na secção de Nossa Senhora de Fátima, no Cemitério Beechwood.
