With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Kathleen Angela Hobbs (née Adams), age 77 at May Court Hospice on April 9, 2025, after a long illness.

Born in Dublin, Ireland, on June 16, 1947 to Angela Helen (née Wynne) and William Stanley Adams IV, Kathleen emigrated to Canada in 1949 with her parents and her elder sister Margaret. The family settled in Regina, Saskatchewan where they lived for several years before moving to Ontario. She leaves to mourn her husband Scott Parsons, daughter Heather Hobbs (Tim Angus) and sisters Margaret Harrington and Sheila Adams of Vancouver and Elizabeth Fraser of Niagara. In addition, are the family of her niece Jennifer Petersen in Vancouver as well as many cousins in Ireland, and the children and grandchildren of her husband Scott.

Kathleen grew up in Brockville and studied at the University of Toronto, later Ottawa where she obtained a degree in economics from Carleton University followed by a Masters in Business Administration from uOttawa. Kathleen had a career of 30 years in the Public Service, 15 years each at Export Development Canada and at the Office of the Auditor General of Canada.

Kathleen will be laid to rest alongside Lieutenant Commander Edward Burke at the Canadian National Military Cemetery.  The interment will be  by invitation only.

We are forever grateful to all those who assisted Kathleen and family during her illness. In particular, staff of the oncology program at the General Hospital and the Irving Greenberg Cancer center. Also the nurses provided by Ontario Health at Home, in particular, Nurse Nawaz Ahmed. Thanks also to the staff of Hospice Care of Ottawa who provided support through the Day Hospice program and Visiting Hospice Volunteer Rosemary Williams and, in particular, the nurses, PSWs and volunteers at the May Court Hospice where Kathleen spent her final days. And finally many thanks to Pat Arud who spent many afternoons caring for Kathleen over the last four years.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Hospice Care Ottawa.

Her laugh. Her smile. She was such a gentle kind person. She had an impact on my family even from so far away.
