It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Denise Jeanne Dryden (Castonguay), on Thursday, March 6th, 2025 at the age of 86. Beloved wife of Ted (Edward) Paul Dryden since August 1963, they shared 58 beautiful years together before his death in April 2021. Loving mother of Steven (Claude Laberge), Glenn (Sierra Griffin) and Karen (Stephen Kiser). Proud grandmother of Christian, Aidan, Oksana, Marika and Lauren.  Beloved sister-in-law of Terry (Lyle Connon) and nephews.

Dear daughter of the late Honore Pierre Castonguay and Marie Leonie Côté, Denise is predeceased by her cherished siblings: Edgar Brideau (Lucienne Dufour, Graziella Boudreault), Léo (Noëlla Turcotte) Donat Brideau (Rita McGraw), Bertha Brideau (Laurent Boily), Ovila Brideau (Gabrielle Carnaval) and Jeannine Castonguay (Gaëtan Lessard) and deeply loved and remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Denise was born and raised in Kenogami, Québec, where she had many fond memories of her family, her Godparents and lifelong friends. She regaled stories of her love of skating and dancing. She served briefly in the Militia as a clerk, and for Price Brothers as a secretary before marrying in 1963.

Devout in her Roman Catholic Faith, she was an esteemed member of the Catholic Women’s League for over 50 years, earning the love and respect of her sisters in Christ. She will be dearly missed by these lifelong friends.

Denise will forever be remembered for her particular attention to detail, fondness for anything sweet, the ability to recall everyone’s birthdays and her love for family and friends. She was exceptionally proud of her grandchildren and her love for them will remain eternal. She also adored her grand-dogs and always ensured they were well fed and that her grand-cat had a present at Christmas.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude for the kind and compassionate care she received while living at Stittsville Villa and in her final days at the Montfort Hospital. Arrangements are entrusted to Beechwood Cemetery with a Funeral Mass to be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Interment will be held privately for family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to the Kidney Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Sending my condolences to Steven, Glenn and Karen; I remember your mother, father, and your family, when we lived in St-Hubert as a neighbour on PMQs. I remember walking into the house and hearing both your mother and my father, laughing as they were good friends, and shared the same background. Your mother was a kind, generous and vivacious woman who had a beautiful laugh. I’m sure you will feel her with you in spirit. Hugs and kind thoughts… 💐

Sending our condolences to you all... Denise had the biggest smile and always made you feel at home. We still have a crucifix that she made, with pottery & pearl coating, in our front entrance. She was so much fun with her great laugh and the first to give generously. We are grateful to have shared her journey and she'll be missed by so many people. All our love...

Mes sympaties à toute la famille et à tout ceux qui ont eu la chance de connaître cette femme merveilleuse. Elle prenait toujours des nouvelles des gens qu'elle aimait et s'intéressait sincèrement à chacunes d'entre elles.
