It is with great sadness that we announce that Richard Routhier, originally from Hull (Gatineau, QC), aged 80, passed away peacefully in Ottawa on February 27, 2025. Son of the late Robert Routhier and the late Rita Courchesne Routhier, he leaves to mourn his loving wife Frances Caswell Routhier, his two children Michel and Stéphanie (Nicolas), his five granddaughters Zoé, Mélissa, Anne-Marie, Renée (their mother Sonia), as well as Émilie. Richard also leaves to mourn his nieces, nephews and many friends.
Richard spent many years as a trusted family physician in Gatineau. He started his career as a Medical Officer and Flight Surgeon in the Royal Canadian Air Force in Baden-Soellingen, Germany, from 1972-1975. The family sincerely thanks Dr. Mushtaq and the nursing teams at the Ottawa General Hospital for their empathy, professionalism and the quality of services and care provided.
The family will receive condolences on Friday March 28 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa. Your expressions of sympathy may be expressed by a donation in his name to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute or The Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County.

Dear Frances, Our get-together in Toronto is what I'm recalling right now. Meeting Richard, dining, seeing you after all those years at the cottage, was a delightful highlight to a long friendship. My heartfelt thoughts are with you and your family at this difficult time. May Richard Rest In Peace.
As ever, Cathy
